WORLD OF WHEELS TOUR SETS A BUSY PACE FOR 2008
For some people conventional just won’t do. This is why we have mounted fish that sing show tunes, credit-card-sized devices that hold 8,000 songs, and cars that look like, well, anything but cars.
For these people, the World of Wheels tour is manna from heaven. The World of Wheels events that are located all over the country are meant as a celebration of creativity for those in the custom car industry.
Unlike most car shows that celebrate the best in current conventional engineering as well as glimpses into the future of the auto making industry, the World of Wheels tour recognizes the efforts of small garages in turning cars into what some would consider a work of art.
The World of Wheels tour is headed to Boston and Atlanta January 4-6. Milwaukee, Pheonix, and Grand Rapids get the January 11-13 time slot with New Orleans and San Antonio shows on January 18-20. Rounding out January are Chicago and St. Paul from January 25-27.
Some of the cars featured at these shows include Bumblebee, the ’76 Camaro of Transformers fame, Lightening McQueen from the hit film Cars, and Vampyre a car that looks like, you guessed it, a vampire.
Most car fans will consider these events to be a nifty little distraction and a cool way to spend a few hours perusing some truly unique vehicles. There is little practical application, however, to the products on display.
Instead, most car fans would like to get their hands on a more road-friendly exotic car. Perhaps something along the lines of a Lamborghini Gallardo Coupe would be appropriate? For these people, the only things standing in their way are often the issues of money and the practicality owning such an exotic vehicle.
To address these issues, many exotic car fans are turning to exotic car clubs like those found at www.exoticcarclubs.com. These clubs allow their members to have access to assortment of exotic cars without ownership. For example, DFW Elite Car Club (www.dfwelitecarclub.com) offers its members the chance to drive any of its forty cars (and the collection is continually expanding). Here is a link to a video on the Dallas exotic car club.
If you just want a quick fix, you can always rent an exotic car for an anniversary or to entertain a client. www.rentexoticcars.net is an excellent online directory of exotic car rental companies.
